Saturday, May 4, 2013, celebration of Latino culture in downtown Denver. Closing the streets in the city center area (Civic Center Park), rides, stalls selling trinkets to expensive jewelry, food, face painting, rides for the kids, a petting zoo, folk dancing and music.

Because of the recent incident in Boston - no person with a backpack was allowed to enter the area.

Cinco de Mayo, celebrated by Latinos and non-Latinos across the country, commemorates the victory of a heroic people and their struggle for freedom. On May 5, 1862, in the town of Puebla, the outnumbered Mexican army defeated French forces providing the momentum and national confidence to drive foreign power from their country. Cinco de Mayo is a celebration of freedom and the beauty of Latino culture.
