Refute the Doctrine of Christian Discovery: an Open Letter to Pope Francis
John Kane: ...as Native people who have born and still do bear the effects papal edicts, specifically colonialism and the racism tied to the Doctrine of Christian Discovery... it is "racist, scientifically false, legally invalid, morally condemnable and socially unjust" and I might add; sinful... Repudiate, abolish and rescind those papal bulls. Your failure to do so forces us to deny the granting of your request for forgiveness...

"Akwesasne is an Indigenous community that includes parts of so-called Ontario, Quebec and New York, and community members routinely cross between 'states' and 'provinces'...Katenies (who was arrested) has maintained since 2003 that border officials and the Canadian colonial courts have no jurisdiction over Kanion'ke:haka people or land.

Mohawk Elder and Grandmother, Kahentinetha Horn suffered a heart attack, Saturday, June 14, 2008 during a vicious, unprovoked assault by OPP and border agents at Cornwall, in Akwesasne community. She had been beaten and handcuffed when she collapsed.

To the IRS: "I can't do this any more. I will no longer pay for war -- the murder of civilians -- with my tax dollars.
For more than 40 years, I have paid federal taxes accurately and regularly. I've often supported new taxes when the proceeds would help people. Now I have to stop.
