OCCUPY
Almost a spring day with temperatures in the high 40's but windy as the Saturday march assembled in Civic Center Park and proceeded down the 16th Street Mall with stops at HM store and the Suncor Headquarters on 17th Street and back to the park and the statue of Christopher Columbus.
The rally was in solidarity with the indigenous peoples of Peru and the Americas against Newmont Mining and corporate greed. Groups joining the march included Tierra Y Libertad and AIM, the American Indian Movement of Colorado. The march ended at the statue of Christopher Columbus in Civic Center Park where AIM called for a show of force at the Suncor site next Saturday to protest the gross leak of contaminants from the refinery which has been poisoning the water at the juncture of the Platt River and Sand Creek near Brighton, CO.
