Parque Nacional Corcovado, Penisula Osa
Surrender to the rain, you can't fight it, just get wet, running down your face and eyes,
slog thru the mud, slip and slide
Surrender to the dirt, reddish earth covers boots, legs, packs
Surrender to the sun and heat, don't fight it, sweating profusely, stinging eyes
Surrender to the river, up to the torso
Surrender to the jungle, swarming with life
Accept it all, embrace all
Surrender
Nestled in a small valley, high on ridge, on a finger of land jutting into the Pacific,
surrounded by jungle, a pair of toucans calls out a rainbow swath
and frogs chirp and echo in the afternoon shadows
There, below the jade green canopy,
the wellspring pours down, gathers and grows,
clear and pure
The waterfall emerges from the forest as a newborn from the womb,
gathering strength, the will to live, the cycle,
a silvery stream, born of tropical clouds, soaked thru Earth, leaking out mountainside,
rushing down, over rock and root,
returning to the sea
a short and complete life
And sitting lotus position, facing north, two figures silent, in the creek,
A meditation, guided without destination,
Now deeper, deeper, the ground falls away,
and ego falls away, and id, and self fall away,
Fear of the unknown, surrender,
Third eye, who, what,
Courage, breath,
In, out, in, out
Breathe in cosmos, breathe out self
Until there seems no difference
Conscious unconsciousness
Awestruck, darkness becomes color becomes light,
The crashing water, lighter now, and the thunder rolls distant
and the Earth shakes
Fear, surrender, courage,
Earth shake and thunder
Earth shake and thunder
Enough, be grateful, bring it back, back, back,
And I awaken shiverring
